Just plain water works best because it doesn't strip any of the natural oil from the dog's coat.
There are a lot of different shampoo products for dogs and one isn't much different than another. With some dogs you will want a shampoo that is color specific however. What is the best shampoo/soap to use for washing an eleven week old puppy?
You can't go wrong with natural based shampoo/conditioner which is gentle on your pets coat. There is a huge selection, but is mainly found in good pet shops. Personally, i prefer 'Aloveen oatmeal' range.
Research the net or ask your local pet shop about the natural products available.
I was told (by our dog trainer) not to rub the shampoo directly onto the pets coat, but rather coat the bottom of a empty small bottle (600ml) with the shampoo and fill it with warm water, shake well. Then apply it to the pets wet coat and rub in, wash out etc. What is the best shampoo/soap to use for washing an eleven week old puppy?
I like Oster professional. My puppies get dirty and need a bath several times a week. This shampoo and conditioner is safe for everyday use and is recommended by the AKC. I get mine at dog shows but I have heard that petsmart carries it too. It is a common shampoo for show dogs since they tend to get baths once, maybe twice, a day. Good luck.
There are petsmart puppy products you can buy but they are more expensive than they are worth.
I really swear by johnson and johnson baby shampoo. I use it on my puppy and he smells great, it doesn't cause the coat to dry out and there are no irritants in it.
Tearless, hypoallergenic, perfume and dye free puppy shampoo. You can get it at any petstore. DO NOT USE any human products, not even baby shampoo/baby wash. The chemicals are different because human skin is not the same as dog skin. Just because 'everyone' thinks it's okay doesn't mean it is. Dog products only!
