Why most hotels provide shampoo, soap, lotion but not toothpaste?

I think it's because the ';vending machine people'; have some kind of a contract with the hotels that say they can't so they can make some money. Half the hotels I've been in have coffee provided and not everybody drinks coffee. Toothpaste is a huge need, that's probably why.Why most hotels provide shampoo, soap, lotion but not toothpaste?
Most of the hotels I've been in have offered toothpaste. Why most hotels provide shampoo, soap, lotion but not toothpaste?
because 1. most people bring there own .. 2. everyone has there own taste .. and 3. if a guest needs it .. it doesnt' cost that much to get it at a convince store .. hope that answers your question*
A lot of them actually provide other things such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors etc but you have to call the front desk and ask and at one hotel, I actually saw a small travel kit in a vending machine!
Good question.....because most people are picky about their toothpaste but don't care about their shampoo?

It more likely is a result of the cost comparison. Shampoo, soap, and lotion are cheap compared to toothpaste most likely.
it depends where you go. lower priced hotels provide less because that's what you're paying for. higher priced hotels provide more because that's what you're paying for. that's pretty much all there is to it.
At some hotels if you go to the front desk you can purchase some for lyke 3 bucks...I used to work at the days inn ;0)
If you ask the front desk then they will most likely give it to you. It is more expensive. The chain hotels will sell it to you but the little ones most likely will have them for free.
Toothpaste isn't as cost effective as soaps.
